Chronic Pain Massage Worthing

When Pain Becomes Part of Daily Life

Chronic pain is different from a injury that heals.

It persists, it fluctuates, and it often defies simple explanation. If you are living with fibromyalgia, ME, chronic fatigue, persistent headaches or migraines, or long-term stress-related tension, you will know how exhausting it can be to manage — and how difficult it can be to find treatment that genuinely helps.

Many clients who come to Complete Balance have already tried a range of treatments. They are not looking for a generic massage. They are looking for a therapist who understands the complexity of persistent pain and can adapt treatment accordingly.

Clinical Approach to Complex Conditions

My work with chronic pain clients is grounded in clinical assessment and a biopsychosocial understanding of pain — meaning I consider not just the physical symptoms, but the widerphysical, emotional and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to them.

Each appointment begins with a thorough discussion of your history, symptoms and goals.

Treatment is then tailored to how your body is responding on that day — whether that means gentle, targeted work or a more integrated approach drawing on a range of
techniques.

This is particularly important for conditions where deep pressure can be counterproductive.
Fibromyalgia, for example, often responds better to gentler methods such as Myofascial Release, the EMMETT Technique or CranioSacral Therapy than to conventional deep tissue
work.

Conditions I Regularly Treat

  • Fibromyalgia

  • ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and chronic fatigue

  • Persistent headaches and migraines

  • Stress-related pain and tension

  • Long-term back, neck and shoulder pain

  • TMJ / jaw pain

  • Chronic fatigue related to stress or burnout

  • Sleep disruption linked to pain or tension

  • Symptoms associated with anxiety and nervous system dysregulation

If your condition is not listed here, please get in touch. info@completebalance.co.uk

This is not an exhaustive list, and many clients come with presentations that don’t fit neatly into a single diagnosis.

Techniques Used

Treatment for chronic and complex conditions may draw on any combination of the following, selected on the basis of assessment and your individual response:

CranialSacral Therapy

A gentle, non-invasive technique particularly well suited to clients  who find deep tissue work aggravates symptoms. Supports nervous system regulation and can ease headaches, migraines, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

EMMETT Technique

A light-touch soft tissue method that releases chronic tension and pain with minimal discomfort. Many clients are surprised by the extent of change
they experience.

Advanced Myofascial Release

Addresses restrictions in the connective tissue that
contribute to pain and limited movement throughout the body.

Trigger Point Therapy

Identifies and releases specific points of tension that generates referred pain elsewhere in the body.

Where appropriate, I may also recommend the MELT Method — a gentle self-treatment system using soft rollers and balls that clients can use at home between sessions to support pain management and nervous system regulation.

What to Expect

Your first appointment will include a thorough consultation to understand your history, current  symptoms and what you are hoping to achieve. No two sessions are the same —treatment is adapted each time based on how your body is responding.

Many clients with chronic conditions find that a course of regular treatment produces better results than one-off sessions, and I will discuss with you what a realistic programme might look like for your specific situation.

Appointments are available in Worthing, West Sussex, and are often booked several weeks in advance.

A Note On Outcomes

I work honestly with clients about what massage therapy can and cannot achieve for chronic
conditions.

For many people, the goal is not elimination of symptoms but meaningful, sustained reduction in pain, improved sleep, greater mobility and a better quality of life day to day.

These are outcomes that many of my clients do experience with consistent treatment.
