Musculoskeletal Pain & Injury Massage Worthing
Pain That Gets In The Way Of Life
Whether it’s a sharp pain that appeared after a sporting event, a nagging ache that has built up over months, or a specific injury that isn’t responding to rest, musculoskeletal pain has a way of affecting everything — your sleep, your work, your movement and your mood.
At Complete Balance, treatment for musculoskeletal pain begins with assessment. Understanding where the pain originates — which is frequently not the same place where you feel it — is central to achieving results that last.

Treating the Cause, Not The Symptom
A principle that guides my clinical practice comes from the structural integrator Ida Rolf: “Where you think it is, it ain’t.”
Pain is often referred. Lower back pain frequently originates from restricted hip movement.
Shoulder pain can stem from tension patterns in the neck and upper back. Sciatica involves not just the spine but the gluteal muscles, piriformis and the fascial layers surrounding
them.
By using assessment and range of movement testing at the start of each appointment, I identify the underlying contributors to your pain — not just the area that hurts.
This is what makes treatment more effective and longer lasting than simply working on the symptomatic
area alone.

If your condition is not listed here, please get in touch. Many clients present with a combination of issues or symptoms that don’t fit a single diagnosis — this is common and an assessment will give us a clearer picture.
Techniques Used
Treatment is always tailored to your specific presentation.
For musculoskeletal pain and injury, this typically draws on a combination of:
Sports & Remedial Massage
The foundation of assessment-led treatment,
addressing the muscular and fascial contributors to pain and restricted movement.
Deep Tissue Massage
Used to access deeper layers of muscle and fascia,
particularly useful as preparation for trigger point work or where chronic tension has built up over time.
Advanced Myofascial Release
Addresses restrictions in the connective tissue that
contribute to pain and limited movement throughout the body.
Trigger Point Therapy
Identifies and releases specific points of tension that generates referred pain elsewhere in the body.
Soft Tissue Release
A highly effective technique for releasing tight
hamstrings, quadriceps, calves and other specific muscle groups using targeted pressure combined with active or passive movement.
Your
Wellness

Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)
Uses your own muscle contractions to improve
end-of-range mobility. Particularly effective for improving neck movement, releasing a tight piriformis and easing sciatica.
John Gibbons BodyMaster Method
Advanced assessment and treatment of the pelvis, sacroiliac joint, lumbar spine, shoulder complex, cervical spine, hip, groin and knee.
This specialist training informs how I assess and treat the interconnected structures of the body rather than in isolation.
Supporting Your Recovery at Home
Wherever possible, I provide clients with practical tools to continue their recovery between sessions. This may include:
Personalised rehabilitation programmes via Rehab My Patient, designed specifically for your condition and reviewed as you progress.
YouTube self-care resources via the Complete Balance channel — free to access, covering mobility, stretching and recovery exercises.
1-to-1 movement sessions where we design and record a strength and mobility programme tailored to your needs. The recording is yours to keep and use at home.
MELT Method — a gentle self-treatment system using soft rollers and balls that reduces joint compression, eases accumulated tension in the connective tissue and supports ongoing recovery.
What to Expect
Your first appointment will begin with a thorough consultation, taking a full history of your symptoms, any relevant medical background and what you are hoping to achieve.
Where appropriate, I will carry out a postural and range of movement assessment before beginning
treatment.
Treatment duration and frequency will depend on your condition. Some clients find significant relief after a single session; others with more complex or long-standing presentations benefit from a structured course of treatment.
I will discuss what a realistic programme looks like for your specific situation.
