Why should you book a Sports and Remedial Massage with me at Complete Balance Worthing?
At the beginning of your first treatment we will discuss why you are seeking treatment. We'll discuss how long you have been experiencing your pain, reviewing any traumatic experiences, lifestyle or underlying health conditions that may influence the reason why you are experiencing pain or tension
Once we have reviewed your history I will review my approach with you.
Each client is unique and I treat accordingly, for example if you suffer with Fibromyalgia I will not be using Deep Tissue massage as this will aggravate your inflammation and pain. I will use EMMETT Technique to reset your muscle memory, gentle massage to improve range of movement and Myofascial Release to mobilise your fascia.
My treatment room is warm, you are wrapped in warm towels to promote relaxation, as your pain levels are reduced your feelings of anxiety and stress are reduced and you feel more relaxed.
A listening touch is invaluable, for example perhaps you suffer with sciatica, as before I will review your case history looking for clues as why you are suffering with this painful condition. For example, in the case of gentlemen, did you know regularly sitting on your wallet can cause sciatic type symptoms because its likely you are compressing a muscle called the Piriformis. The sciatic nerve can run through it or behind it! Compressing the Pirifomis muscle can irritate the sciatic nerve, giving rise to pain in the buttocks, painful hamstrings or tingling and/or numbness in the toes.
My approach to treatment for this condition is quite different. Its likely your pelvis is out of balance, you might have lumbar, gluteal, hamstring or calf tension. In this instance I will use a mix of EMMETT Technique, Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release and Stretches to release the compression and tension held in the body, In addition some self-care exercises for you to do at home and ask you to purchase a new wallet that you can use in your front trouser pocket!
